Tom Curran is an Emmy award-winning cinematographer who directs and shoots documentaries and doc-reality programs. His first film Adrift is an award-winning documentary that aired on PBS and is being distributed by WGBH-Boston. In The Silence, Curran examined the legacy of abuse by a number of men who worked for the Catholic Church along Alaska's far west coast in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They would leave behind a trail of hundreds of claims of abuse, making this one of the hardest hit regions in the country. In this documentary that aired on FRONTLINE in 2011, Alaskan Native survivors share intimate stories of abuse and their struggle to find answers to a horrible hidden chapter of Alaskan history.

Tom has photographed seven Iditarod Sled Dog Races in Alaska winning an Emmy for the 1993 race, along with documentary programming for Discovery Channel, The History Channel, The Learning Channel, ABC and HBO Films. He worked as the Director of Photography on the highly acclaimed series, Little People Big World on The Learning Channel. The series ran for six seasons and Curran’s production company Night Train Pictures provided the HD camera packages for the show. Currently Tom is the Director of Photography for the new series High Style being produced by Eyeworks USA. Curran studied at The American Film Institute, and lives in Los Angeles.
